VTech sustainability concept. Eco-friendly electronic toys

VTech aims to replace the use of fossil-based plastics by 2030 and is launching green e-learning toys.

VTech plans to launch a variety of eco-friendly e-learning toys in 2021, an important step in the company's commitment to sustainability. The firm aims to replace its fossil fuel-based plastics with sustainable alternatives as early as 2030.

Eco-friendly VTech products include three new vehicles in the popular GO! Go! Smart Wheels (made from plant-based plastic) and the Sort & Recycle Ride-On Truck toy is made from recycled plastic.

In addition to toys made from plant-based plastic, VTech will source materials from responsibly managed forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Materials will be used for two new wooden toys, the Touch & Learn Nature ABC Board and the Interactive Wooden Animal Puzzle.

VTech has already implemented sustainable packaging and currently 94% of its packaging materials are recyclable. And 90% of the cardboard used in packaging comes from recycled materials.

The company highlighted its commitment to eliminate blister packaging and replace it with plant-based alternatives in 99% of e-learning toys by 2025.

To support circular economy initiatives in its core markets, VTech participates in various packaging recycling programs (in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand). Steps have also been taken to encourage the processing of goods after consumption. VTech's sustainability vision is about creating sustainable value for human life and protecting the planet for future generations.

The company is committed to using sustainable materials and recycling them responsibly, using sustainable modes of transportation in supply chain management, expanding the use of renewable energy sources and reducing the consumption of natural resources in the manufacturing process.
